Since I signed up for reality TV, Amy Slaton was an open book.

After working with sister Tammy Slaton for appearances in TLCs 1,000-pound sistersThe Kentuckian native has let cameras into her life to document personal struggles with her weight, relationships and motherhood.

Along the way, the reality star made headlines due to a few speed bumps off camera.

In September 2024, Amy was arrested on various charges, including illegal drug possession, after she was found with what police believed to be mushrooms and marijuana while her children, Gage and Glenn, were present in the vehicle.

The arrest came hours after she was allegedly bitten by a camel while visiting Tennessee Safari Park with her sons. While the investigation is ongoing, read on to learn more about Amy’s extended family:

Tammy Slaton

When they made their television debut, Tammy and Amy weighed over 600 and 400 pounds, respectively. During the show, the sisters pursued their health and fitness goals while also documenting their personal lives.

Although Tammy had several unsuccessful relationships, she found love in season 4 of the series. After checking into a diet rehab clinic, Tammy met patient Caleb Willinghama rapper and poet who struggled with food addiction. The couple fell in love and married in 2022 during a wedding that was broadcast on 1000-pound sisters.

Willingham died in July 2023 at the age of 40 from “complications of extremely morbid obesity,” according to his autopsy report, which was obtained by In contact.

Michael Halterman

Amy’s love story with Michael began when they first met in high school. They were together for several years before making their debut on 1000-pound sisters.

“My husband, Michael, means everything to me,” Amy said in the series premiere. “Michael and I are newlyweds, but we’ve been together for four years now. I can tell him anything and everything. And Michael is really supportive of me in helping Tammy.”

The couple married in 2019 and had two children together, but their relationship took a turn when the couple split up in April 2023.

A year later, Amy spoke about her mental health struggles following her divorce from Michael. She was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, depression and acute stress disorder.

After documenting her journey to motherhood on 1,000-pound sistersAmy had her first child in November 2020. “Holding Gage for the first time felt surreal,” she said on an episode of her TLC show. “My heart just melted. He was so perfect. His little fingers, his toes. Yes, I created this little ball of joy.”

In a separate interview with PeopleAmy said she tries to teach her children different healthy eating habits, like eating lots of vegetables. “Gage eats Brussels sprouts. He eats broccoli. He eats cauliflower. He eats all of them,” she said, before revealing one of his favorite foods. “His favorite food is chicken nuggets and fries!”

Glenn Allen Halterman

Amy’s second child was born by cesarean section in July 2022. “How time flies when you’re living out your dreams,” she wrote on Instagram two weeks after the birth of her second child. “Gage is learning to be the best big brother ever. He even watches Glenn sleep. Checks on him. #trulyblessed.”

In February 2024, Amy posted a video of “Mommy and Glenn Time” on TikTok, in which a user pointed out how similar the TLC star’s two children look. “Oh my god!!,” one user commented. “I thought that was Gage for a minute. You blink and miss (Glenn) growing up. Crazy!”

Amy replied, “They look so similar.”
