Experienced receiver Jalen Reagor released from Patriots training squad

An experienced veteran has left the training team in Foxborough.

The New England Patriots announced on Tuesday the release of wide receiver Jalen Reagor, which creates an additional spot on the scout team.

Reagor, 25, had missed the NFL’s 53-man roster deadline in August before being released to make room for waivers. He returned shortly thereafter as a member of the practice squad and remained in that role until the team’s 1-1 start to the season.

The 21st pick in the 2020 NFL Draft originally arrived in Foxborough when the 2023 practice squad was formed after playing 45 games, including 24 starts, with the Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings. Reagor made the league limit in standard heights before being promoted to the active roster, finishing last season with 138 receiving yards and 17 rushing yards on offense. In the kicking game, he added 221 return yards, led by a 98-yard touchdown on New Year’s Eve against the Buffalo Bills.

After taking part in eleven competitions and starting one, a one-year contract followed in March.

The TCU product has caught 97 passes for 937 yards and four touchdowns over the course of his NFL career, including 100 ground yards and a punt return for points.

The New York Jets host their AFC East opener at MetLife Stadium on Thursday at 8:15 p.m. ET.
