HMD Global, the parent company of Nokia, has introduced a unique flip phone with a Barbie motif.
The device was first unveiled at the World Mobile Congress earlier this year and is now available for purchase.
This retro-style feature phone is a product of HMD’s collaboration with renowned toy manufacturer Mattel.
Featuring a bright pink color and lack of apps, the Barbie flip phone offers users the ability to disconnect from the digital world while staying in touch with loved ones.

The HMD Barbie flip phone comes with two interchangeable backs, each with a unique design.
One case features the vibrant swirls of the iconic 1992 Totally Hair Barbie doll, while the other features a vintage “shooting heart” pattern.
The package also includes a beaded lanyard decorated with small Barbie-themed charms, as well as a set of glittery gems and vintage Barbie stickers to personalize your device.
A look at the specifications
Featuring a 2.8-inch screen and a 5-megapixel camera with built-in flash, the HMD Barbie flip phone is ideal for taking photos reminiscent of early digital cameras.
It also features a 0.3-megapixel camera for vintage-style photos, in line with the current Y2K trend popular among Generation Z.
The device’s battery offers up to nine hours of talk time, allowing users to stay connected throughout the day.
Unique features of the Barbie flip phone
When opening the Barbie flip phone, users are greeted with a screen reminiscent of Barbie’s dream house and the familiar startup sound, “Hi Barbie!”
The device even simulates a notification about a missed call from Ken, Barbie’s boyfriend.
The pink keypad features hidden designs with palm trees, hearts and flamingos that glow in the dark.
Additionally, it features a custom Barbie user interface, complete with themed wallpapers and app icons for a comprehensive user experience.
Self-care functions and Easter eggs
The Barbie flip phone is packed with self-care features like “digital balance tips,” “Barbie meditation,” and “self-care reminders.”
The ringtones such as “Floating”, “Coastal” and “DreamHouse” are intended to promote relaxation.
The device also contains hidden surprises, such as a special Easter Egg that can be unlocked by entering the word BARBIE with *#227243#.
For gaming enthusiasts, it offers a Malibu version of the classic Snake game, where apples are replaced with watermelons.
Availability and prices of the Barbie flip phone
The Barbie flip phone is currently available in select European regions for £99 (approximately ₹10,900) and will launch in the US in October for $129 (approximately ₹10,800).
Pre-orders begin September 23rd, with shipping starting October 1st.
The device will be compatible with all major wireless networks in the US.
However, it remains uncertain whether this unique retro-styled feature phone will make its way to India.
