“Everything went well,” says father who lost his wedding ring on the highway while giving birth to his newborn in the back seat

Danya and Rebecca Mahota with their daughters – Danya Mahota, released.

“Everything could have gone wrong, and yet everything turned out well,” were the final thoughts of Danya Mahota, who became a father for the second time.

It all started when his wife Rebecca felt the contractions coming on fast and hard in the 40th week of her pregnancy.

On the way from her home in Brewster to the hospital in Plymouth, a 56-minute drive in summer traffic near Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Rebecca’s water broke.

As the saying goes, the second contraction comes faster and few could keep up with the speed of little Summer, whose head was already out after the next contraction. While this was happening, Mr. Mahota stopped at the side of the road to help.

Summer was born there on the highway and the Mahotas immediately rushed to the hospital with their newborn wrapped in a blanket.

Speaking to ABC affiliate WCVB after one of the most dramatic days of his life, Mahota explained that at the hospital, where Summer was declared healthy and without complications, he noticed that his wedding ring had slipped off.

Days later, he returned to the highway to search for his personal treasure.

“Just as we were about to leave, I looked down and by the grace of God, I found it right between my toes. I was scratching some grass away and just couldn’t believe it,” he told WCVB. “Anything could have gone wrong, and it all went well.”

The story made it to GMA, where the parents of two daughters gave some insight into their terrifying experience on the highway.

“We would like to remind all expectant parents that hospital policies on when a hospital visit is necessary are not always specific and that it may actually be sooner. So follow your instincts and go there when you feel something happening!” they wrote via email.
