Alarming wild animals
Just after 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, Truckee Fire was called to a reported vegetation fire behind the Safeway. Resources from Truckee Fire, CAL FIRE NEWUSFS, Northstar FireFire in Olympic ValleyNorth Tahoe Fireand North Lake Tahoe Fire responded and is working to contain the fire. Several aircraft are on site and are supporting the ground crews. By 4:10 p.m., the crews had laid a hose line around the source of the fire.
Truckee Fire is currently under joint command with Cal NEW Fire Department, Truckee Police Department and City of Truckee. An evacuation warning remains in effect for the following zones: TRK-E145, TRK-E128, TRK-E118, TRK-E148.
There are currently no road closures, but motorists should use caution when driving on Donner Pass Road in the area of the Safeway shopping center.
Emergency crews will be on site throughout the night and further updates will be provided as conditions change.

TRUCKEE, Calif. – Truckee Fire, CAL FIRE NEW, USFS Tahoe National Forest, Olympic Valley Fire, North Lake Tahoe Fire, Northstar Fire, North Tahoe Fire, Truckee Police are on the scene of a vegetation fire behind the Safeway Shopping Center on Donner Pass Road.
In Truckee, evacuation warnings have been issued for zones TRK-E145, E128, E118 and E148.
“Prepare now to leave the city at the earliest opportunity. Those who need more time to evacuate should begin departing now,” said the notice, issued by the city around 4 p.m. on Sunday.
