ESPN’s College GameDay Created by The Home Depot returns to the University of Oklahoma for the ninth time ever in Norman, Oklahoma. The premier college football preseason program makes a stop in Week 4 before the Sooners’ SEC conference debut against No. 6 Tennessee, the top team in Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit And Holly Rowe will call ABC Saturday Night Football presented by Capital One (7:30 p.m. ET). College Game Day will be broadcast live from the South Oval on the OU campus on ESPN and ESPNU from 9 a.m. to noon ET.

host Rece Davis is in his 10th season at the helm, supported by Matchday Analysts Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee And Nick Saban. College Football Insider Pete Thamel, College Football Betting Analyst ‘Stanford Steve’ Coughlin and reporters Jen Lada And Jess Sims round off the Matchday pour.

College Game Day is off to its best start to a three-episode season since 2010 and its second-best start ever. The Week 3 show in South Carolina averaged 2.0 million viewers, peaking at 2.6 million in its final hour.

Show highlights and guests

  • Oklahoma’s head coach Brent Venables will join Matchday live on Saturday before the Sooners’ SEC debut, along with former OU linebacker and actor Brian “The Boz” Bosworth take part in the show.
  • Oklahoma’s softball team, which has defended the national championship title four times, is Matchday during batting practice for the Sooners, while head coach Patty Gasso and players will be on the show on Saturday to see the Matchday Turns of the crew.
  • Coach’s Film Room – Saban takes viewers into his film room to give them an in-depth look at the Texas Longhorns quarterback situation and the highly anticipated arrival of Arch Manning.
  • Guest voters – American singer, songwriter and television personality Blake Shelton returns to his home state of Oklahoma this weekend to perform as College Game Day‘s guest picks for Week 4.
  • Pat McAfee’s Kicking Contest – Back for the second season, Matchday is offering an exclusive contest during the live show, Pat McAfee’s Kicking Contest. Fans who arrive early will have the chance to be selected from the on-site “pit” and attempt a 33-yard field goal. If the contestant successfully completes the kick, he/she will receive $55,000 from McAfee. Full details, including official rules, can be found Here.

  • Coach Corso will be selecting his 417th mascot headgear this week in Oklahoma. He is 3-0 so far this season, with every game won by the away teams.
  • Oklahoma is hosting for the ninth time Matchday in school history and 42nd time on the show overall – the third most appearances by a school in the show’s history. Corso has picked the Sooners 18 times and has a record of 11-7 with his picks.
  • Corso has chosen Tennessee’s headgear seven times, compiling a 5-2 record when choosing the Vols. This will be Tennessee’s 25th appearance on the show and its fourth under head coach Josh Heupel.

  • Heupel’s homecoming – Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel, who was formerly Oklahoma’s quarterback and now its fired offensive coordinator, will return to Norman for the first time since his alma mater fired him nine years ago. Before his return, Heupel is sitting down with Rece Davis to share his feelings about Oklahoma, how his experiences as a Sooner changed his path and what it will be like to return to the stadium he once called home.
  • Coach Payton – Thirteen-year-old Payton Gibbs was diagnosed with autism as a toddler and fell in love with football at age nine. In 2023, she was living her dream: helping her father coach the high school football team until a decision was made that took her off the sidelines. That’s when NC State head coach Dave Doeren, whose son also has autism, decided to step in and advocate for Payton and others like her. Martin Smith reports.
  • The Danny Stutsman Experience – The Oklahoma linebacker is taking on Jen Lada to talk about his decision to return to the Sooners, give NIL money to extras, draw comparisons to The Boz and offer a once-in-a-lifetime tour of his car. It’s the complete Danny Stutsman Experience.
  • A rose by any other name – Michigan vs. USC immediately brings back memories of the Rose Bowl and New Year’s, but this is not New Year’s, this is a new era. Ryan McGee reports.

ESPN’s social and digital pre-pregame show, Countdown to GameDay presented by Dr Peppergoes on tour with hosts for week 4 Christine Williamson And Harry Lyles Jr. in Oklahoma. Regular co-host Harry Douglaswho completes the trio will not be on hand this week as the former Louisville star will be honored with the addition of his jersey to the Cardinals’ Ring of Honor. Jen Lada and “Stanford Steve” will be on the show to talk about the Week 4 matchups live from Norman.
