Mandy Dingle should have known that you can’t keep a secret for long in Emmerdale and ahead of Thursday 15 August’s episode, her fiancé Paddy finally found out that his lady love was looking for a part-time job as a ‘findom’, or financial dominatrix.

And her fiancé isn’t the only one who knew her secret: Tracy caught Mandy getting into character for her latest online client, and Paddy’s dad Bear heard the audio recording of her last online call as it came over the salon’s speakers.

It was Bear who told Paddy everything, which left the poor groom wondering if the wedding should go ahead. He did decide that it should be called off, but then he spoke to Mandy and decided that the wedding should go ahead after all. “You make crazy decisions,” he told her, “but every day is exciting.”

Their wedding, when it took place, was as unconventional as the couple themselves. With the ceremony called off, Paddy and Mandy, in their sparkly dress and tiara, had to scramble to get everything back on track, and their wedding became a whirlwind affair with the fastest vow reading in history, as there was a funeral at the church later that afternoon.

Bear then almost revealed Mandy’s other job to everyone in the pub, but instead gave a speech in which he said: “My beautiful son and his second bride Mandy… soulmates are soulmates, destined to be together forever. There is no one in this room who is surprised that you have gotten back together.”

“Today a wonderful, beautiful and perfect future begins with you,” said Paddy in his short speech to the guests, describing Mandy as “his Cinderella.”

The road to true love and a happy life hasn’t been a straight one for the couple. Earlier this year, after a difficult period in their relationship, Paddy and Mandy decided to take the big step and get engaged. Before Paddy proposed, Mandy was heartbroken when he embarrassed her at a social event and kissed his ex Chas Dingle.

In revenge, she passionately kissed Dr. Liam Cavanagh. Despite the tumultuous events, they decided to reconcile when Paddy surprised Mandy by dressing up as Prince Charming. Later at home, Paddy realised he couldn’t bear to lose Mandy and proposed to her. This is not the couple’s first attempt at marriage, as they said “I do” back in 1999.

However, their marriage fell apart in the 90s when Mandy had an affair with her college lecturer. This led to Mandy leaving the village and not returning until 2019.
