After weeks of uncertainty, an Emmerdale couple finally got the happy ending they deserved when Matty Barton and Amy Wyatt successfully walked down the aisle and tied the knot. But although the wedding got off to a rocky start after Amy’s mum Kerry dropped the bombshell that she couldn’t afford the lavish party, it was actually Amy’s dress that had many fans talking.
For her upcoming nuptials, Amy had opted for a twist on a traditional wedding dress, choosing a chic ruffled ivory wedding dress with a hi-lo skirt, straight-cut bodice and her trusty Doc Martens to ensure a day of comfort for her feet. Although the dress accurately reflected Amy’s personality and penchant for doing things her own way, fans at home couldn’t help but comment that it looked more like a wardrobe malfunction than a stunning outfit.
Taking to social media, several fans commented on the dress and shared their opinions without holding back. Many said the same thing: it looked like it was tucked into her panties!
One fan wrote: “I love Amy’s Dr. Martens! I don’t like the dress so much. Looks like it’s tucked into her knickers.”
A second fan echoed this sentiment, adding: “Did the front of her dress get caught in her panties?”
Meanwhile, a third viewer commented: “Why is her dress tucked into her panties?”
Some fans also couldn’t understand why the young bride chose such an old-fashioned design. One fan even claimed it was reminiscent of the 1980s! “Did Amy bring that meringue dress from the 80s?” wrote one fan.
A second added: “So Amy didn’t think the duvet/toilet paper dress was horrible enough and decided to add that hideous jacket? Did Eric pay for that too?”
Despite the initial uncertainty surrounding the wedding following Kerry’s devastating bombshell, there was still hope on the horizon for the couple when Eric Pollard, Amy’s unofficial father figure, stepped in and offered to pay for the entire ceremony and reception, to the tune of a whopping £10,000!
Meanwhile, due to Kerry’s previous deception and her refusal to admit that she couldn’t afford the wedding, the scheming mother has been ordered to leave Amy’s house, leaving the trust between the two completely broken, possibly even irreparable.
But as noble as Eric’s rescue was, it wasn’t entirely clean, because at the end of the episode it turned out that he had tricked Kerry and sold her jewelry for thousands, even though he had initially led her to believe that the jewelry was worthless, thus ruining her plans to pay for the wedding!
Will Kerry be able to reconcile with Amy? Or is their relationship ruined for good?
