game of Thrones Star Emilia Clarke takes on a second TV role in a new spy thriller series titled PoniesThe English actress is best known for her portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen in HBO’s hugely popular fantasy series, for which she received four Emmy nominations. Outside of game of Thronesshe also played Sarah Connor in Terminator: GenisysQi’ra in Solo: A Star Wars storyand as G’iah in Marvel’s Secret Invasion. Clarke also starred in the romantic dramas A whole half year And Last Christmas.

Well, the game of Thrones Star has set a second upcoming role in a television series. diversity, Clarke is set to play a leading role in the spy thriller series, Ponieswhich was ordered directly to series at Peacock. This is her second upcoming lead role in a television series after Prime Video Criminal.

Story, characters and creative team

Peacock’s upcoming spy series is is set in Moscow in 1977 and follows two PONIES (an acronym for “persons of no interest” in intelligence jargon) who work anonymously as secretaries in the American embassy. When their husbands are killed under suspicious circumstances in the USSR, the two become CIA agents. Clarke plays Bea, a highly educated Russian-speaking daughter of Soviet immigrants who teams up with Twila, a fearless and outspoken small-town girl. Together they work to uncover a vast Cold War conspiracy and discover the truth behind the events that left them widows.


Peacocks Ponies was co-designed by Susanna Fogelpreviously known for The flight attendant And The spy who dumped meand David Iserson. Fogel will direct the series, while Iserson will serve as showrunner. In addition to starring, Clarke will serve as an executive producer. Additional executive producers include Jessica Rhoades, Alison Mo Massey and Katherine Bridle.


Ponies is the second TV role that Clarke has secured in recent months, as she also appeared in Prime Video’s Criminal Comic book adaptation based on Ed Brubaker’s Eisner Award-winning graphic novel. In this series, Clarke will play Mallory, a quick-witted armed robber in a Bonnie and Clyde-like relationship. Ponies is the second spy thriller that Peacock has ordered this year. An untitled spy series starring Simu Liu has also been ordered. Ponies, Criminaland more series are in the works, fans of Clarke and spy thrillers should certainly get their money’s worth in the near future.
