POWDR, the Park City, Utah-based recreation company that owns both Eldora Mountain and Copper Mountain, announced Thursday that it plans to sell Eldora and three other ski resorts.
“To strategically manage POWDR’s portfolio in line with the goals of our founder and shareholders, we intend to balance our ski business with new ventures in the national park sector and Woodward,” the company wrote in a statement. “In the coming weeks, we will be offering three of our ski resorts – Eldora, Mt. Bachelor and SilverStar – for sale.”
Mt. Bachelor is located in Bend, Oregon, while SilverStar is in British Columbia, Canada. POWDR also sells Killington, the famous ski mountain in Vermont.
“Until the sale of these four resorts (including Killington) is completed, we will continue to focus on our current operations at these ski areas, as well as Copper and Snowbird, which we are retaining, Woodward Camps and Mountain Centers, and our two National Park concession agreements,” POWDR continued. “In addition, we are committed to ensuring a seamless transition at all four resorts.”
Established in 1962, Eldora is known as a locals’ mountain, attracting people from Boulder County and skiers who don’t want to fight through traffic on Interstate 70. The ski area is located about 20 miles from Boulder and includes a total of 680 acres of ski terrain and some après-ski areas.
