New Parramatta coach Jason Ryles has taken his first big step and confirmed his assistant coaches for next season.
The headline appointments are the return of Nathan Brown, who served as Director of Coaching for the club’s Elite Pathways in 2022.
Brown is joined by Scott Wisemantel, Sam Moa and Nathan Cayless, meaning current interim coach Trent Barrett will no longer be with the club in 2025.
Ryles and Brown played a few games together for the Dragons, while Brown also coached him at Red V.
Brown has plenty of coaching experience in the National Rugby League (NRL) and overseas, while Wisemantel might be a new name to some but he is an Eels junior who was previously attack coach for the Australian and English rugby union teams.
Cayless is a club legend and will remain as NSW Cup coach next season, while fans will remember Moa from his time as a prop at the Roosters, having spent three years as defence coach with the Catalans in the Super League.
“Our new head coach Jason Ryles has assembled a team of assistants who he believes will help him get the best out of the group of players and we look forward to welcoming the new coaching staff in November,” said Eels general manager Jim Sarantinos.
“On behalf of the board and management, I would also like to thank the current coaching and performance staff who will be leaving our club at the end of this season.
“It has been a challenging season, but our staff have shown great commitment to the club and the team during this time. We are extremely grateful for their contribution and look forward to recognising them before the end of the season.”
The newly formed coaching team faces a mammoth task as the Eels must avoid last place this season and will likely lose several players next year.
