Eagles stock rises, stock falls after preseason game against Vikings – NBC Sports Philadelphia

It will count at the Eagles’ next football game.

But the Birds ended their 2024 preseason with a 26-3 loss to the Vikings on Saturday afternoon at the Linc. They finished this season 2-1.

Final cuts must be made by 4 p.m. Tuesday, with the regular season opening game against the Packers on September 6.

Here is an overview of the price development of the third preparation game:

Stock up

WR Britain Covey: The Eagles acquired Jahan Dotson in a trade, but Covey clearly has the team under control, sitting out the third and final preseason game against the Vikings.

OT Fred Johnson: There probably shouldn’t have been any questions about Johnson’s status, but he also got the day off. With Mekhi Becton taking over as starting right guard, Johnson’s job as backup offensive tackle became much more important.

WR Ainias Smith: After a terrible start to his rookie training camp, Smith bounced back in the last few days and then played a solid third preseason game. The fifth-round pick had 6 catches for 36 yards and may have done enough to earn a spot on the roster.

OLB Julian Okwara: The veteran edge rusher had a sack on the edge on third down early in the second quarter that forced a field goal for the Vikings, and later had a big QB hit. Okwara doesn’t have much of a chance of making the Eagles’ roster, but maybe he ends up somewhere else.

S Tristin McCollum: James Bradberry didn’t play in this game, which can be interpreted in a couple of ways. But McCollum played and played well, just like he has all summer. He flew all over the field. He played the whole game, which is usually not a good sign in the final preseason game, but McCollum made the most of it.

Linebacker Ben VanSumeren: The second-year linebacker is just emerging in the preseason. He made some really nice plays on Saturday, including a sack on a blitz. He has a good chance of making the team as a special teamer, but is also showing good signs of development as a linebacker.

Linebacker Oren Burks: In the second quarter, Burks made a nice blitz that resulted in a sack and pulled off a block to stop a screen pass earlier in the half. He also nearly intercepted a deflected ball.

LeSean McCoy: The Eagles announced at halftime that Shady will be inducted into the Eagles Hall of Fame on November 3. McCoy more than deserves the honor as the Eagles’ all-time leading runner with 6,792 yards. He was a three-time Pro Bowler with the Eagles before being traded to Buffalo.

Inventory is decreasing

WR Parris Campbell: No one was more affected by the transfer of Jahan Dotson than Campbell. While Covey did not play on Saturday, the experienced Campbell had to play well into the third preseason game.

WR Jacob Harris: It was a shame that the 27-year-old suffered a concussion during the opening kickoff. Harris showed some promise during training camp, but missed a key game to show solid performance.

CB Zech McPhearson: The fourth-year cornerback was assessed a defensive pass interference penalty while playing outside cornerback Lucky Jackson for a touchdown in the second quarter, and he also allowed a 20-yard pass and missed a tackle at the end of the game.

OLB Nolan Smith: Sure, the Eagles don’t have many edge rushers on the roster, but Smith played pretty extensively until the third preseason game. Smith is a first-round pick from last year and is playing a lot this preseason.

WR Joseph Ngata: Ngata had a chance to catch a pass on fourth down and fourth down in the red zone, but it bounced off his hands and landed in the hands of a Vikings defensive back. He also had another drop earlier in the game. After a great second preseason game in New England, Ngata was unable to repeat that performance.

DB Cooper DeJean: Take that with a grain of salt. DeJean hasn’t played in a game since November and missed most of training camp with a hamstring injury. It was a shaky NFL debut for DeJean, who was given a penalty for illegal contact on his third attempt to help the Vikings move the posts. DeJean also got beat a few times in coverage, but was lucky Lucky Jackson couldn’t keep both feet in the field. But at least DeJean was able to move his feet and make a few tackles.
