Eagles start season with terrible INT and fumble by Jalen Hurts on shotgun snap

The Philadelphia Eagles struggled towards the end of last season, losing six of their last seven games and looking really poor in all aspects of the game.

About eight months had passed since their last game, but they picked up where they left off in the first quarter.

The Eagles’ first possession ended with a bad interception incident by Jalen Hurts over the middle of the field. He didn’t expect Green Bay Packers safety Xavier McKinney to be in position for the interception, but he was and the Eagles had a turnover in their own territory. Hurts finished last season on a downturn and this wasn’t the best start to a new season.

The Eagles’ problems didn’t get any better on their second drive. In their first game since the retirement of center Jason Kelce, new center Cam Jurgens’ shotgun snap caught Hurts off guard, the ball bounced off him, and the Packers pounced on the loose ball. Another Packers possession started in Philadelphia territory. It appeared to be a miscommunication between center and quarterback.

Despite their excellent field positions, the Packers had to settle for field goals after both turnovers, proving that the sloppiness at the beginning of the game in Brazil was not only the Eagles’ fault.

This was not how the Eagles wanted to start the new season. It was too similar to the end of last season.
