Eagles Rising Star speaks about recent controversy

The Philadelphia Eagles faced the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2 and suffered a surprise loss.

Philadelphia seemed to be in a good position, but struggled defensively in the second half and eventually lost the game. The Eagles are now 1-1 and are heading into a very exciting duel against the surprising New Orleans Saints.

The Eagles had solid moments against the Falcons, but there were some question marks. Jalen Carter, the 2023 first-round draft pick, is a key part of the team’s defense but did not play in Week 2 against Atlanta. He still played, but to the surprise of some, was not in the starting lineup.

It later emerged that the reason for his absence was that he was late for a team meeting earlier in the week. He addressed that fact on Friday, as transcribed by Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

“Eagles (defensive tackle) Jalen Carter said he was late for a team meeting last week because he overslept,” Zangaro posted. “So he was disciplined and didn’t start the Falcons’ game. He said he took responsibility for it. The lesson he learned from that? ‘Don’t be late.’

Fortunately, it was no more than that and not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Carter is a key part of the Eagles’ defense and will play a major role this season. The Eagles will need to convince him if they want to take a step forward. Hopefully he doesn’t miss any more games this season.
