Dylan Sampson claims to be the SEC’s best RB for Tennessee Football

Tennessee Volunteers running back Dylan Sampson has staked his claim as the SEC’s best ball carrier.

Running back from Tennessee Dylan Sampson has been one of college football’s best-kept secrets over the past few years. He bided his time behind several NFL-ready running backs before becoming the undisputed alpha of the room in the offseason. It was reasonable to assume he would find success early in the season behind one of America’s best rushing attacks. Still, even he might not have been able to predict that initial success.

Sampson has surpassed 150 all-purpose yards in both games so far and has found the end zone five times in the first two weeks of the season. He leads the SEC in rushing yards and touchdowns; Sampson is also third in yards per carry among SEC runners with at least 20 attempts so far. He has been a reliable receiver in the passing game for quarterbacks Nico Iamaleavaand converted several important third tries that were already visible on screens in the middle of the football field.

The Vols have one of the best rushing attacks in college football since head coach Josh Heupel took the job. They’ve sent several backs and linemen to the NFL for their tremendous success on the ground, but Sampson has a chance to do better than any of them. With a balanced attack within the realm of possibility, the sky’s the limit for Sampson in this offense.
