Dwayne Johnson unveils live-action film based on Disney’s monster truck “Monster Jam”

Disney is developing a new film with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson inspired by the monster truck competition – “Monster Jam”.

Details of the film, announced at D23 2024, are still unknown other than the fact that it is currently being filmed. But Johnson told the crowd, “We have an opportunity here to create something that is immersive and cool and fun, and also a live-action experience for our families around the world, from the perspective of these incredible, iconic monster trucks and their very eccentric and crazy drivers. Ladies and gentlemen, Monster Jam is going to be one hell of a ride.”

This is, of course, Dwayne Johnson’s usual hype campaign – but The Rock doesn’t just talk. He also emphasizes that he, er, follows up with actions.

“I’m so excited to share this news with you guys. As you know, I’m a pickup truck man. That’s all I drive. I drove here in my pickup truck. It’s in the back. You know that, and I love motorsports, love monster trucks,” Johnson told the crowd.

Johnson was also there, of course, to announce Moana 2, which sees the action star dancing on stage to tribal drums while reprising his role as Maui. You can read more about it here.
