DVIDS – News – Army & Air Force Exchange Service recognized as “Veteran Friendly” by US Veterans Magazine for the eleventh consecutive year

DALLAS – The Army & Air Force Exchange Service has been recognized by U.S. Veterans Magazine as a Veteran-Friendly Employer for 2024, marking the eleventh consecutive year the Department of Defense’s largest retailer has received this award for its recruiting efforts.

“The family serving family becomes even stronger when veterans join the exchange,” said Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Rich Martinez, the exchange’s senior noncommissioned officer. “Veterans understand our customers because they were and are our customers.”

The Exchange offers veterans priority in hiring, competitive pay and benefits, including paid vacation and sick leave. Veterans who become full-time employees can use their military service time toward their Exchange pension.

About 10% of the exchange’s U.S. workforce is made up of veterans, and since 2013, the exchange has hired over 60,000 veterans and their spouses.

The exchange regularly receives awards for its efforts to employ veterans and military spouses. In 2024, the exchange received the following award:

• #1 Military Spouse Friendliest Employer® by Viqtory Media.
• One of the Top 10 Military Friendly Employers® according to Viqtory Media.
• VETS is a 4-star employer in the index.
