Global logistics company DSV has ordered 300 fully electric semi-trailers from Volvo Trucks. The order is one of the largest of its kind and gives DSV one of the largest electric truck fleets in Europe.

Every day, more than 20,000 DSV trucks are on the road, transporting goods for the company’s customers around the world. And now, thanks to DSV’s commitment to its ESG goals, more and more of these trucks will be electric.

DSV’s order of 300 Volvo FH Aero Electric models, which feature improved aerodynamics compared to previous models, are among the company’s most efficient electric vehicles. They will be used across all of DSV’s European operations and are part of a larger order that includes 500 Volvo trucks powered by the brand’s highly efficient Penta diesel and gas engines.

Both DSV and the Volvo Group are committed to the Science-based Targets initiative, which promotes ambitious climate action in the private sector in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement.

DSV plans to deliver the trucks between the fourth quarter of 2024 and the end of 2025. The company plans to deploy 2,000 electric trucks by 2030.

Since 2019, Volvo Trucks’ global electric truck deliveries have increased to 1,977 Class 8 trucks in 2023 (a 256% increase year-on-year and rising as the company sees continued customer interest in 2024). In addition to pure numbers, Volvo also has market share. In Europe, more than 50% of electric truck buyers chose a Volvo in the first quarter of 2024 – a full 56%, and in the US, the share of electric trucks sold was also 44%.

Once DSV’s order is fulfilled, Volvo Trucks will have more than 4,000 fully electric trucks on the road, completing millions more emission-free journeys.
