SEATTLE – Drier and sunnier weather is forecast for Seattle on Sunday afternoon. Mostly clear skies are forecast for the night: this will improve visibility of the Aurora Borealis!
In Western Washington, there is a chance to see the Northern Lights early Monday morning (best viewing is between 2 and 5 a.m.). Mother Nature is providing wonderful conditions: rain-free skies and very few clouds.
A few tips for viewing the Aurora Borealis: Try to get away from city lights and look toward the northern horizon. Interestingly, your phone’s camera can pick up the colors better than the naked eye. This event won’t be nearly as impressive as the one in May (remember that?), but it’s still a cool opportunity to see those famous bright hues on the horizon.
Keep in mind that predicting space weather is challenging, and these conditions are likely to change.
As for the weather near us, we’re forecasting below average highs for the entire week, hovering around 15 degrees. Lows will drop to 10 degrees at night. On Sunday, clouds will be overcast in the morning, followed by sunshine in the afternoon.
Early Monday could be quite chilly in many places. Temperatures could be between 7 and 9 degrees in some valleys and communities in the South Sound! Make sure the kids change into warm clothes at the bus stop on Monday morning. They will probably be changing out of their sweatshirts and jackets by midday as the sun warms us up to 20 to 25 degrees on Monday afternoon.
Monday’s beautiful blue skies will be somewhat fleeting. Mostly cloudy weather and cooler temperatures return on Tuesday. A few showers are possible Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
It will be dry from Thursday to Saturday. Thursday and Friday mornings may be cloudy, but plenty of sunshine will return in the afternoon. Saturday will be glorious with partly sunny skies.
Hope you have a wonderful Seahawks Sunday! Thanks for choosing FOX 13. We look forward to bringing you predictions!
