Dry and comfortable to end the working week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) — Our fall preview continues, with dry, refreshing air sticking around through the start of the weekend. As for temperatures, we started the day again in the 7-10s, but reached 24 degrees in the valley this afternoon. Warmer temperatures are on the way starting Friday afternoon!

This evening, clouds and breezes will subside and the sky will clear up again. After sunset, temperatures will drop steadily, reaching lows of 7 to 10 degrees by sunrise.

The low pressure system that has been causing below average temperatures for the past few days finally disappeared on Friday. Most of the day will remain sunny, with just a few clouds in the afternoon. Temperatures will rise to 25 to 27 degrees, which is about normal for mid to late August. A high pressure system at the surface will help keep humidity levels quite low and bring a light breeze from the west-northwest.

Friday night will be clear and cool again, with temperatures in the low 10s early on Saturday. Temperatures will rise quickly as full sun is expected, and highs should be in the low 27s for most with a breeze from the west. Humidity will increase late Saturday and Sunday, which will keep overnight temperatures higher. Sunday will also be warmer, with temperatures in the mid 27s expected thanks to a breeze from the southwest.

With warm temperatures and rising humidity, our weather will become more changeable. There may be one or two isolated showers on Sunday afternoon and evening, with a higher chance of isolated wet weather on Monday.

Summery weather will continue throughout the week with warm temperatures, moderate humidity and occasional chance of rain.
