Donald Trump’s campaign bus tour will stop in Macon. See who will speak.

Donald Trump’s campaign will stop in Macon on Friday as part of a bus tour of Georgia.

The event will feature prominent Republicans supporting the former president, but Trump or his vice president are not expected to attend. It will be held at the Bibb County GOP headquarters at 3220 Riverside Drive. Tickets can be purchased online on a first come, first served basis.

JD Vance, U.S. Senator for Ohio and former President Donald Trump’s vice president, was scheduled to give a speech in Macon on September 26, but it was postponed due to the severe weather threat from Hurricane Helene. Vance has no other appearance scheduled in Macon

The stop is the latest in Macon, where Democrats and Republicans squared off in the final weeks of an election that could decide Georgia.

Why is the Trump campaign visiting Georgia?

The Trump campaign’s Friday stop will be its first appearance in Macon this year, but it didn’t ignore Georgia either.

On Sunday, Trump appeared in Augusta to survey the damage from Hurricane Helene. He also made a stop in Savannah in late September and held a rally in Atlanta this summer.

Georgia is expected to play an important role in the upcoming elections as polls show the state is in chaos. Georgia’s 16 electoral votes could be a boon for whichever candidate wins the state.

The trip to Macon could be a way to get on the heels of his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, whose campaign stopped in Macon in July. Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, also visited Macon on Sept. 16.

Who will speak?

While it doesn’t appear that Trump or Vance will be in Macon, the campaign has lined up a slate of stump speakers to represent the campaign.

Joni Ernst, U.S. Sen. for Iowa, and former White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley, who worked for Trump, will be in attendance, according to messages sent to media and supporters in the Macon area. Georgia Senate President Pro-Temporary John F. Kennedy and U.S. House candidate Wayne Johnson will also be in attendance.

The campaign has not yet released details about what speakers will address. According to campaign emails, Vance planned to talk about inflation and the economy during his speech in Macon.

Editor’s note: This story has been updated after Trump’s campaign released an updated list of speakers.
