Dolphins promote Tim Boyle and strengthen wide receiver ahead of game against Seahawks

The Miami Dolphins made a number of roster changes on Saturday to prepare the team for its Week 3 game against the Seattle Seahawks. The moves add depth to the team at key positions where injuries have already taken their toll, particularly on the team’s offense.

Practice squad quarterback Tim Boyle was promoted and signed to the Dolphins’ 53-man roster. He joins Skylar Thompson and Tyler Huntley on the active roster. Starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was placed on the injured list earlier this week after suffering a concussion in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills. Thompson will assume the starting role for the team while Huntley and Boyle provide backup. Miami can use the league’s emergency quarterback rule to designate either Huntley or Boyle as inactive for the game, but insert him in the event of an injury to the other two quarterbacks.

Huntley was signed from the Ravens’ practice squad this week, taking Tagovailoa’s spot on the roster.

To make room for Boyle, Miami placed wide receiver Grant DuBose on the injured list. Miami acquired DuBose from the Green Bay Packers on waivers earlier this season. He appeared in both games for the Dolphins and caught one pass for 13 yards.

Miami also announced that they have elevated wide receivers Dee Eskridge and Erik Ezukanma from the practice squad for Sunday’s game. Both players will be available for the game day roster and will return to the practice squad after the game. Neither player has played in a game this year.
