Dolphins player Skylar Thompson’s fiancée cheers him on at his start in Seattle

Skylar Thompson’s biggest supporter was eagerly awaiting his first start of the season in Seattle.

Before Sunday’s kickoff between the Dolphins and Seahawks, Bre Newcomer — who is engaged to Miami’s new QB1 — posted an Instagram snapshot from Lumen Field, where the former seventh-round pick will play quarterback since starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is currently unavailable after suffering a severe concussion in Week 2.

Newcomer also shared a photo of 27-year-old Thompson warming up in her Instagram stories.

The couple announced their engagement in March.

Thompson was selected 247th overall by the Dolphins in 2022 and started two games and one playoff game this year.

He filled in for the injured Tagovailoa on September 12 when the former first-round pick suffered his fourth documented concussion in a 31-10 loss to the Bills.

Tagovailoa, 26, was placed on the injured list this week and has “no plans” to retire.

The former Alabama star will be on the sidelines on Sunday.

Ahead of the game, Thompson talked about what this opportunity to travel means to him.

“When you hear the guys talk and the guys that have been there, you know it’s a special place to play and the 12th Man is real. I’m really excited about it. To me, that’s what you want. That’s why football is such a great game and it’s fun to be able to travel, have the opportunity to be on the road with the guys and compete against them in that environment. We’re really looking forward to that opportunity,” he said, according to the Dolphins’ website.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel also discussed the Dolphins’ confidence in Thompson.

“When I tell you the confidence the team has in Skylar (Thompson) is real and earned and is based on thousands of hours that most people don’t see as a backup quarterback, I would say they are very motivated to do their job and that is the highest compliment you can give,” said McDaniel, who is in his third season as head coach.

The Seahawks led the Dolphins 17-3 in the second quarter.
