Dollar Tree’s $1.25 kitchen utensil is selling like hotcakes – it’s “comparable” to Target staples, but nearly 84% cheaper

Experienced shoppers rave about a replica of an everyday household item from Dollar Tree.

The low-cost imitation is almost as effective as its more expensive competitor, but offers the buyer a saving of almost 84% compared to the branded version.

Palmolive Oxy Power Degreaser Dish Liquid from Dollar Tree comes in a 10-ounce bottle and retails for $1.25.

The detergent is said to be “strong against grease” and “gentle on the hands”.

It is also boasted to “attack grease and stains.”

Shoppers love this household item and claim it saves them money on much-needed cleaning supplies.

“I really enjoy using it! It works just as well as other dishwashing detergents and the scent is wonderful,” wrote one shopper.

“I don’t often write reviews, but I think this product deserves one,” they added.

Another shopper called the imitation dish soap “the absolute best on the market,” adding that “just a few drops in the water” is enough to “create endless suds.”

“Everything I could want in a bottle of dishwashing liquid is in this bottle,” raved one shopper.

“I love this product…works very well…smells wonderful,” wrote another shopper.

Some shoppers even discovered that the inexpensive dishwashing detergent was a counterfeit of a more expensive branded version, namely Dawn Original Scent Ultra Dishwashing Liquid Dish Soap.

Dollar Tree’s $1.25 cleaning product is sold out and costs a quarter of the price of duplicates sold on Amazon.

A 38-ounce bottle of Dawn costs $7.49 at Target, making the Dollar Tree copy almost 84% cheaper.

While Dollar Tree’s knockoff is significantly smaller than its branded competitor, even buying multiple bottles of this knockoff is cheaper than just one bottle of Dawn.

Four bottles of Dollar Tree dish soap totaling 40 ounces would cost shoppers $5, meaning shoppers would still save $2.50 compared to Dawn’s version — and get two more ounces of dish soap.

“Palmolive Oxy, if available in your store, is most comparable to Dawn Ultra,” shared one Reddit user.

Dollar Tree Scammers

Savvy shoppers have scoured Dollar Tree to find imitations of their favorite products

However, one user noted that Dollar Tree’s imitation dish soap was “much more runny” and “used up faster” than its more expensive counterpart.

This user also gave other dishwashers some important advice about purchasing dishwashing liquid or dish soap.

“I’ve since learned to check how thick or runny the dishwashing liquid is in the bottle when purchasing new brands,” they wrote.

“If the dish soap moves very quickly when I tilt the bottle, I know it is liquid,” they shared.

“If it seeps slowly, I know it is thicker and works better,” they added.

Dollar Tree Prices

Despite the store’s name, Dollar Tree has recently added items to its line that cost more than $1.

Most items in the store cost no more than $1.25, but items in the Dollar Tree Plus department cost up to $5.

As part of its efforts to diversify its products, Dollar Tree introduced Plus departments in 100 locations in 2019.

By 2022, Dollar Tree had added the items to over 1,500 locations.

“We believe that testing additional price points above $1 for Dollar Tree products will allow us over time to expand our assortment, introduce new products and meet more of our customers’ everyday needs,” President and CEO Michael Witynski said in a statement.

“Our brand promise is that customers get a lot for their money at Dollar Tree. We will continue to defend that promise with all our might, regardless of price.”

CLEANING COSTS

Dollar Tree offers its customers hundreds, if not thousands, of items at significantly lower prices than the competition.

Thrifty and price-conscious customers can find everything they need at Dollar Tree, from beauty products to household items.

A skincare enthusiast found replicas of Glow Recipe’s moisturizer, serum and toner for just $1.25 each.

The retail price for Glow Recipe’s three-piece set is $57, excluding any other discounts.

Dollar Tree is also a great place to shop for inexpensive decor, whether for the holidays or to give your room a quick and inexpensive makeover.

The retailer sells small, decorative hanging wall shelves for $1.25 that are perfect for hanging photos, knick-knacks and other small trinkets.

Walmart, on the other hand, sells an almost identical shelf for $19.99.

This means that customers at Dollar Tree could buy almost 16 shelves for the same price as they would at the discount chain, where they would only have to pay for one shelf.
