DJ Uiagalelei’s interception sparks “We want Brock” chants among FSU fans

Florida State football fans are running out of patience with their team’s quarterback woes.

The clearest sign of this occurred shortly after starting quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, who came from Clemson via Oregon State, threw an interception during a fourth-down conversion attempt on the first drive of the second half.

An errant pass from Uiagalelei fell into the hands of Boston College’s Max Tucker, who returned it 58 yards to the Florida State 7-yard line. Two plays later, Boston College scored a touchdown and took a 21-6 second-half lead, prompting FSU fans to chant “We want Brock.”

“Brock,” of course, refers to backup quarterback Brock Glenn, a 6-foot-2 redshirt freshman who was named a three-star recruit in the Seminoles’ 2023 recruiting class. He was the No. 30 QB in the class and the No. 481 player in the country, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

According to his Florida State bio, Glenn appeared in five games last season, completing 19 of 51 passes for 229 yards and two interceptions.

At the time of the interception, Uiagalelei had completed less than 50% of his passes for just over 100 yards and one interception. Of course, he followed up two drives later with a 3-of-4 passing drive for 73 yards and a 29-touchdown to Kentron Poitier to make the score 21-13.

It remains to be seen whether FSU fans’ wish to see Glenn in the game will come true.
