Dispute over lost phone leads to shooting at Tomball Parkway Theater

Houston police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Wednesday morning at a movie theater on Tomball Parkway.

It happened around 12:04 a.m. when a group of five people, including the shooter, went to watch a movie.

The group consisted of two women and three men, with one of the men, the shooter, being relatively new to the group.

During the film, one of the men realized that he had lost his cell phone, so his friend, who later became the victim, helped him look for it.

The man who lost his phone went outside to check his car, while the victim found the phone in the theater and went outside to tell him.

An altercation ensued between the victim and the shooter, possibly due to exchanges of words in the theater. Moments later, one of the men heard gunshots.

The shooter and his companion probably fled the scene in a black SUV jeep.

The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance and is currently undergoing surgery. Authorities have said no one witnessed the shooting and the investigation is ongoing.
