Diddy’s panicked text message to Cassie after the hotel robbery is read out during bail appeals

The contents of the text messages Sean “Diddy” Combs sent to Cassie after attacking the singer in a hotel in 2016 were revealed during the music mogul’s recent bail hearing.

On Wednesday (September 18), the messages were made public in a New York court, contributing to his appeal being rejected for a second time. During the hearing, Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson read aloud the texts, which followed surfaced footage of the brutal attack released earlier this year.

According to Johnson, Diddy texted Cassie at the time: “Call me, the police are here. I got six kids. Yo, please call, I’m surrounded. You’re gonna leave me all alone.” In response, the R&B singer reportedly wrote: “When you’re done, you’re gonna knock me out. I’m not a rag doll. I’m somebody’s child.”

“The defendant knew he had done something that could result in police intervention,” Johnson said.

The attack occurred on March 5, 2016, in the hallway of the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles. In Diddy’s defense, attorney Marc Agnifilo argued that the father of seven children – including four daughters – was provoked by Cassie, who allegedly went through his phone and caught him communicating with other women.

Agnifilo claimed that Cassie threw the phone at Diddy’s head while he was sleeping, stole his clothes and stormed out of the hotel room. Prosecutors argued, however, that a male sex worker was present and Cassie was trying to flee the room to avoid another “freak-off” party.

After initially denying assaulting the “Me & U” singer, the Bad Boy CEO changed his stance after the hotel’s surveillance footage came to light. In a now-deleted Instagram video, he apologized for his “inexcusable” behavior.

“I was devastated. I mean, I was at rock bottom. My behavior in that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my behavior in that video,” he said at the time. “I was disgusted when I did it. I still am today. I sought professional help. I started therapy, went to rehab. I had to ask God for his grace and mercy.”

“I’m so sorry. But I’m committed to being a better person every day,” he pleaded. “I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m really sorry.”

Diddy’s lawyers proposed a $50,000,000 bail, which would deny the 54-year-old phone, internet, and female visitors. He also vowed to submit to a drug test. Although he tried to prove he could await his trial in the safety of his own home, the judge has so far denied all of his bail requests, deeming him a “danger to society.”

He is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn and is due back in court on October 9.
