Sean “Diddy” Combs was charged with sex trafficking and organized crime on Tuesday, September 17, one day after his arrest in New York.
A 14-page indictment unsealed on Tuesday contains a barrage of allegations against the rapper. Diddy “abused, threatened and coerced women and others around him,” the indictment says. Some of the alleged incidents, which the indictment says were intended to “satisfy his sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his behavior,” date back to 2009.
Diddy “has consistently and extensively abused women and other individuals,” the indictment continues. “This abuse was at times verbal, emotional, physical and sexual.”
The document also says he allegedly “manipulated” women to get them to “participate in highly orchestrated performances” that are described in detail elsewhere in the indictment.
Damian WilliamsU.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, confirmed Diddy’s arrest on Monday via social media. The music mogul’s attorney, Marc AgnifiloAlso, commented on the arrest in a statement to “Us”.
“We are disappointed by the U.S. Attorney’s decision to pursue what we believe is an unjustified prosecution of Mr. Combs,” Agnifilo said. “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, a self-made entrepreneur, a loving family man and a proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children and working to advance the black community.”
He concluded: “He is an imperfect human being, but he is not a criminal. To Mr. Combs’ credit, he has been consistently cooperative with this investigation and voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve judgment until you know all the facts. These are the actions of an innocent man who has nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”

1. The “Freak Offs”
According to the indictment, Diddy orchestrated so-called “freak offs.” These were “elaborate and staged sex performances” that often took place in hotel rooms and were arranged and directed by Diddy. He is said to have “masturbated and often electronically recorded the performances.”
The music mogul and his business partners are said to have lured “female victims” into his inner circle, “often under the guise of a romantic relationship.” He then “used violence, threats of violence and coercion to persuade the victims to have prolonged sexual intercourse with male sex workers.”
During these “freak offs,” Diddy allegedly “distributed a variety of controlled substances to the victims” to keep them “obedient and submissive” during sexual intercourse. Both Diddy and the alleged victims “received intravenous fluids following the acts to help them recover from the physical exertion and drug use.”
2. What was found in the Department of Homeland Security raid
Evidence of the “Freak Offs” was reportedly discovered at Diddy’s residences in Miami and Beverly Hills, which were raided last March in connection with a federal sex trafficking investigation.
“Law enforcement seized various ‘Freak Off’ supplies, including narcotics and more than 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricants,” the indictment states. Elsewhere in the documents, it was revealed that the Department of Homeland Security “seized firearms and ammunition, including three AR-15s with obliterated serial numbers and a drum magazine.”
3. Arson
Diddy was accused of multiple counts of “arson” in the indictment. While further details about the alleged crime were not provided, the document claimed it involved “multiple acts” of arson, all of which are punishable under the California Penal Code.
4. The Cassie video
In May, a video appeared in which Diddy attacked his ex-girlfriend Cassie in a hotel in 2016 was made public. The music mogul allegedly “attempted to bribe the employee to keep quiet” after the incident, after a hotel employee intervened, according to the indictment.
Cassie – who dated Diddy on and off from 2007 to 2018 – accused him of abuse in a November 2023 lawsuit that was settled a day later. Diddy denied her allegations.
5. Combs Enterprise employees were allegedly involved
While the indictment primarily names Diddy, his company, Combs Enterprise, has also been implicated in the alleged crimes.
“Members and employees of the Combs Enterprise engaged in and attempted to engage in activities such as sex trafficking, forced labor, interstate transportation for the purpose of prostitution, coercion and solicitation for prostitution, drug offenses, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice,” the indictment states. By “enterprise” it means the “leadership of the organization, its members, and its employees.”
