Diddy on “suicide watch” and awaits trial for sex trafficking in notorious prison

Sean “Diddy” Combs is reportedly under suicide watch in prison after being denied bail twice following his arrest on charges of sex trafficking, organized crime and transportation for the purpose of prostitution.

The 54-year-old rap mogul is reportedly in shock as he awaits trial at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

Accordingly PeopleCombs has been placed on suicide watch as a preventative measure because his mental state is “unclear” but it is unknown if he is suicidal.

Most of the 1,600 inmates at the New York prison are in pretrial detention. The center is notorious for its harsh and dangerous conditions.

In the unsuccessful bail motion that Combs’ lawyers filed Tuesday, they wrote: “Several courts in this district have recognized that the conditions at the Metropolitan Detention Center are not suitable for pretrial detention. Just earlier this summer, an inmate was murdered. At least four inmates have committed suicide there in the past three years.”

TMZ had previously reported that Combs was being held in a special facility separate from the general prison population as a precautionary measure because his celebrity status made him a “target” behind bars, where inmates might view his killing as a “badge of honor.”

Celebrities such as rapper R. Kelly, Jeffrey Epstein’s “surrogate” Ghislaine Maxwell and crypto tycoon Sam Bankman-Fried were detained at the MDC.

On Tuesday, a judge denied Combs bail, citing flight risk, aggression problems and drug abuse as reasons.

The hip-hop tycoon was arrested at a New York hotel on Monday night after spending a day in the city with friends who were apparently unaware of his predicament. The unsealed indictment accuses him of forcing female victims to participate in “freak-offs,” described as “elaborate and staged sex performances” that were sometimes filmed without the participants’ permission.

He has pleaded not guilty.

Combs’ attorney Marc Agnifilo has requested a transfer to a prison in New Jersey, said People.

The next hearing in the case is scheduled for September 24.
