Sean “Diddy” Combs will remain in federal custody on sex trafficking and organized crime charges after a judge denied his bail.

During a court hearing in New York on Tuesday, September 17, prosecutors argued that the music mogul should be held without bail pending the outcome of the trial.

Accordingly diversityProsecutors claimed that Diddy, 54, was a flight risk and that his wealth could allow him to leave the country undetected.

As for Diddy’s lawyer Marc Agnifilohe asked the judge to release him on $50 million bail secured by property in Miami. Agnifilo also argued that Diddy worked to gain the court’s trust by returning from Miami to New York “to turn himself in.”

The judge ultimately ruled that there were no conditions that could guarantee Diddy’s appearance in court.

On Monday, September 16, Diddy was arrested in New York City in connection with his numerous sexual assault lawsuits and a federal investigation.

A day later, Diddy was charged with sex trafficking and organized crime. The 14-page indictment contains a barrage of allegations against the rapper.

Diddy is said to have “abused, threatened and coerced women and others around him,” the indictment states. Some of the alleged incidents, which according to the indictment were intended to “fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his behavior,” date back to 2009.

During Tuesday’s hearing, Diddy pleaded not guilty to all charges.

His lawyer had previously responded to the music mogul’s arrest by saying that he was an imperfect human being, but not a criminal.

“We are disappointed by the U.S. Attorney’s decision to continue what we believe is an unjustified prosecution of Mr. Combs,” Agnifilo said Us in a statement. “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, a self-made entrepreneur, a loving family man and a proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children and advocating for the upliftment of the black community.”

Agnifilo added: “He is an imperfect human being, but he is not a criminal. To his credit, Mr. Combs has been consistently cooperative with this investigation and voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve judgment until you know all the facts. These are the actions of an innocent man who has nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
