Federal agents arrested Sean “Diddy” Combs at a Manhattan hotel on Monday night after a grand jury indicted the controversial music mogul. Although the charges against the 54-year-old rapper have not yet been announced, the arrest comes in the wake of a multitude of allegations of sexual assault against him.

Since last November, at least 10 people — including his ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie (real name Cassandra Ventura) — have sued Combs, accusing him of physical abuse, sexual harassment, rape, nonconsensual pornography and sex trafficking. Combs has denied all allegations against him. (In May, however, he apologized for his actions after CNN released graphic footage showing him physically abusing Cassie.)

The arrest came nearly six months after federal agents from Homeland Security Investigations – an agency that investigates sex trafficking allegations, among other things – raided Combs’ homes in Miami and Los Angeles. U.S. Attorney Damian Williams of the Southern District of New York said in a statement that Combs’ indictment would be unsealed Tuesday morning and he is expected to stand trial then.

Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, responded to the arrest in a statement to Vulture, calling his client’s prosecution “unjust” and saying they were disappointed in the Southern District’s decision to pursue the case. “He is an imperfect human being, but he is not a criminal. “To his credit, Mr. Combs has cooperated fully with this investigation and voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges,” Agnifilo said. “Please reserve judgment until you know all of the facts. These are the actions of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
