Diddy allegedly threatened to slit J. Cole’s throat because of Kendrick Lamar

Diddy allegedly threatened to slit J. Cole’s throat over Kendrick Lamar’s “Control.” On Saturday (September 14), Tank and J. Valentine R&B Money Podcast has uploaded a new episode with Terrence “Punch” Henderson, President of Top Dawg Entertainment. During the episode, the men were given a vague story involving a number of heavyweights for their I don’t say any names Segment.

Punch told the story of what happened after Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse came out and how the energy changed the culture, specifically at the 2013 MTV VMAs after-party in New York City. Henderson stuck to the rules of the segment and left out all sorts of names, but as most savvy fans have learned, the main players in the story were Diddy and J. Cole, who stood up for his friend Lamar.

“The mate just made this song, right? He was pissing off a whole bunch of people, everyone was mad about it,” Punch began the story. “When the song came out, he was overseas, then he came back to the States… The first place we stopped was New York City, and the first thing we did was say, ‘Let’s go to the club,’ because we wanted to check out the vibe and see what everyone was up to – LA stuff… We got to the club. One of the mates came up to us and talked about this particular record. So we were going back and forth, ‘Oh, it’s nothing personal. It’s just this, this and that. It’s cool, whatever, whatever.'”

“Another one of the buddies came up, he looked drunk and said, ‘Yeah, you n**as gotta go back and forth and keep it on wax or whatever.’ So the two guys that came up to us got into a little back and forth, a little argument with each other. What we didn’t know was that they had already gotten into an argument before we got there.”

Punch then explained how he and his fellow TDE members entered the club’s VIP area, where they came into contact with a slew of celebrities who described the club’s star power as “the front row of the Grammys.” He then explained how Diddy continued his nastiness, eventually threatening to slit Cole’s throat.

“The guy who was arguing with the other guy is sitting on the couch two steps away from me. Then they came back to him, the ones who were arguing before,” he continued.

“He was like, ‘If you ever say what you said to me again, ni**a, I’m going to—’ And he grabbed a bottle off the table and said, ‘What you want to do? Hit me in the head with a bottle?’ He was like, ‘Nah, I’m going to smash it on the table and cut your throat.’ It got tense. So the ni**a that was on the ground reached out and tried to grab the guy by the throat. So the guy grabbed him and shot him and they both fell on the table and knocked all the drinks over. Now it’s a brawl, a huge brawl.”

Punch previously shared information about the fight on Math Hoffa’s podcast. My expert opinionbut he used names. While telling the story, he mentioned JAY-Z, Diddy, Cole and Kendrick.

“(JAY-Z) and Puff were having dinner like usual,” he said. “Puff and Cole were talking about the verse and a little argument broke out. When we came in, Cole and Kendrick were talking about the verse… Then Puff came back and their argument started again. From there, they got into the whole brawl in the club.”

In this version of the story, the TDE president then mentioned that Emory Jones, Hov’s close friend, entered the fight because he thought one of his artists was fighting. Jones then rushed into the brawl where he grabbed Cole, but when he got closer to the fight, he was surprised to find that it was Jermaine.
