Did Mohammad Siraj sustain a serious injury when he limped off the pitch after a failed attempt on the field?

In a disappointing turn of events, India’s star fast bowler Mohammed Siraj left the field due to an injury on the second day of the first India vs Bangladesh Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The injury occurred while he was playing near the boundary and he seemed to have sustained it after a throw. The team’s physiotherapist rushed to his side but Siraj could not continue and limped off the field. The pacer, however, was back on the field after treatment.

It was Ravindra Jadeja’s first over – the 22nd over of Bangladesh’s innings – when Shakib Al Hasan hit a ball way down to deep fine leg and immediately claimed two runs.

Siraj ran from deep square leg to the left and almost overran the ball on interception, stumbled and managed to stop the ball and fell on the side of his hip. The batters make two in the meantime. Siraj got up gingerly and was in visible discomfort throughout the over and left the field with the physio at the end of the over, with Sarfaraz Khan coming on as a replacement for the pace bowler.

India wins against Bangladesh

Despite Siraj’s injury concerns, India are currently in control of the 1st Test. The bowlers have taken 7 wickets as the Bangladesh batsmen could not capitalise on the advantage of bowling out India by less than 400 runs. For India, Akash Deep, Bumrah and Jadeja took 2 wickets each. Siraj took just 1 wicket
