DHS launches new support hotline: Uplift Wisconsin

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – There’s a new way to find support when you’re feeling down and need someone to talk to.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services, in partnership with Mental Health America of Wisconsin, has established a hotline called Uplift Wisconsin.

The phone number is (534) 202-5438.

This is another free service that can help you find someone to listen to you and offer you support.

DHS recommends calling if you need someone to talk to or support you in difficult situations, or just need a like-minded person to share experiences with.

You can call from noon to midnight and speak with certified peer specialists. That means you’ll talk to people who have experience with mental health issues, substance abuse, or other related life experiences you may be struggling with.

You don’t have to be in a crisis to call this number.

Some people find it easier to talk to people they can relate to and who can help them feel comfortable when they are going through a difficult time.

The call is completely anonymous and confidential and is not connected to any crisis services. This means that no emergency service will be called without your express request.

According to DHS, it is not yet clear whether Uplift Wisconsin will be expanded to a 24/7 service.

We know there is a need for support lines in Wisconsin. We’ve talked about the 988 suicide and crisis hotline. The latest numbers show that calls increased another 16% in June compared to June 2023.
