DEUTZ takes over sales and service of selected drive systems from Rolls-Royce

DEUTZ and Rolls-Royce Power Systems have completed the transaction for DEUTZ takes over the sales and service activities for various Daimler Truck industrial engines. The transaction particularly concerns engines with displacements from 5 liters to 16 liters and outputs of up to 480 kW.

According to a press release:

“With the acquisition of the sales and service activities of Rolls-Royce Power Systems, we have taken the next important step in further expanding our business with modern combustion engines,” said DEUTZ CEO Dr. Sebastian C. The completed transaction looks DEUTZ will take over sales of the mtu Classic series and the mtu engine series 1000 to 1500, which are based on three Daimler truck engine platforms. These engines are used in various off-highway applications, primarily in the agricultural and construction machinery sectors. The takeover also includes service activities for engines already in use. After a transitional phase, these activities are expected to be carried out exclusively by authorized DEUTZ Partner from January 1, 2025.

The takeover follows immediately DEUTZ Alliance with Daimler Truck to develop and market medium and heavy-duty engines (MDEG and HDEP platforms) in the off-highway segment. The alliance was entered into by the two companies in 2023 and is scheduled to begin in 2028. The agreement for DEUTZ The acquisition of Rolls-Royce’s sales and service activities means that with immediate effect DEUTZ will launch the off-highway variants of these engines four years earlier than planned in the existing alliance with Daimler Truck and will also distribute the older mtu Classic series (Daimler Truck engine series OM900 and OM460).

DEUTZ With the takeover of the sales and service activities, over 50 employees from the Rolls-Royce division will move to DEUTZ.

As part of the Dual+ strategy DEUTZ The focus is on optimized combustion engines, market-oriented “green” technologies such as hydrogen combustion engines and the global expansion of the service business.
