Detroit Lions Week 4 Inactive: Brian Branch OUT vs. Seahawks

The Detroit Lions have declared their inactivity on “Monday Night Football” ahead of the Week 4 game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Branch was placed on the injury report Sunday morning with an illness and listed as doubtful. Unsurprisingly, like most players listed with a dubious designation, Branch was listed as inactive for this game. The Lions will likely turn to Brandon Joseph to take over the starting safety spot opposite Kerby Joseph, while Loren Strickland will serve as the backup safety.

After injuries in Week 3, the Lions made some changes to their 53-man roster this week, placing Derrick Barnes, Marcus Davenport and Ifeatu Melifonwu on injured reserve while signing wide receivers Tim Patrick and Allen Robinson, leaving a spot open remained on the active roster. Additionally, the Lions have decided not to call anyone up from the practice squad, meaning Detroit’s gameday roster will total 52 players.

Because the Lions have eight offensive linemen active for Sunday’s game, they are authorized to expand their roster from 47 to 48 players on game day. Therefore, the Lions have to declare themselves fair with 52 players in the matchday squad and 48 players eligible to play four players inactive for today’s matchup.

  • G Sataoa Laumea
