Details on the 35th and final Waupun Truck-n-Show

(Waupun) The 35th annual Waupun Truck-n-Show kicks off Friday, Aug. 9. The two-day event celebrates the industry and showcases hundreds of truckers from across the country. Truck registration begins at noon today and begins at 8 a.m. Friday. Exhibitor booths open at noon Friday. There will be a fish fry at 4 p.m. and country band Grand Union will perform at 8 p.m.

The famous Lights of the Night Parade begins at 9 p.m. after all streetlights on Main Street are turned off. Vendor displays begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, and a Make-A-Wish program and parade auction begin at noon. Spectators can watch the Rides of Pride Parade at 3 p.m.

The awards ceremony will be at 5 p.m. and Sonic Circus will take the stage at 8 p.m. Nancy Kutschenreuter, vice president of the Waupun Truck-n-Show, says this will be their last show.

“The truck show has always been a big family reunion,” says Kutschenreuter. “It’s going to be bittersweet… but I think it was time to retire the truck show.”

The return of the Truck-n-Show means additional detours for motorists. From 8:45 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Friday and from 2:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, State Highway 49 will be closed from Gateway Drive to Fox Lake Road.

The detour will result in drivers entering the city from the east on Highway 49, then south on Shaler Drive, west on East Lincoln Street, then north on Rens Way and finally north on Fox Lake Road.

Additionally, State Highway 26 will be closed from East Spring Street to East Jefferson Street, but will be open to local traffic. Traffic on northbound Highway 26 will be detoured north onto Frontage Road, east to Highway 26, and then south onto Highway 151.
