Denver Broncos sign former Pro Bowl linebacker

The Denver Broncos come from a big victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Despite their Top-Five Defensethey are still trying to add more depth and talent to the unit.

They are betting on a low-risk, high-reward player: the 30-year-old linebacker Kwon-Alexandersays Adam Schefter.

“Veteran free agent LB Kwon Alexander signs with the Denver Broncos training squad, according to a source,” Schefter reported on X.

He trained with the team on Tuesdayand the Broncos liked what they saw so much that they signed him to the 16-man practice squad. A move has not been announced until the team makes Schefter’s report official.

Alexander was originally a Buccaneers fourth round draft pick in 2015He spent four years with the Buccaneers and made the Pro Bowl with them in 2017. There’s an old saying in baseball that if a player deserves to make it to the All-Star game, he’ll usually make it the following year.

This saying could hold true in the NFL, too. Alexander’s best professional year was his second. In 2016, he had 145 tackles, 108 of them solo, and 12 tackles for loss – all career highs.

He went to San Francisco 49ers after his four-year stay in Tampa was over. He lasted one season and a trade in San Francisco before ending 2020 with the New Orleans SaintsHe played another year with the Saints before joining the New York Jets.

Alexander was in Pittsburgh last year, played nine games and recorded 41 tackles.

In his career, the nine-year veteran recorded 631 tackles, 13.5 sacks and nine interceptions.

The Broncos have been looking for Separation from Jonas Griffith before the start of the season. Alex Singleton again leads the team in tackles with 31but cornerback Riley Moss is tied for second with Cody Barton, the Broncos’ other inside linebacker, and has scored just 13 points in three games.
