Demi Moore announces update on sequel to ‘St. Elmo’s Fire’

“I’ve had a few meetings and I think it would be great if we could develop a story that I think would hold up,” Moore explains when asked if she would reprise her role as Jules. “Because you never want to let up. I think yes. By and large, so far, as far as I know, everyone is pretty open and on board. We’ll see, but yes!”

When asked who she met with, Moore confirmed that “the studio was the driving force” for the sequel.

Earlier this year, industry reports suggested that Sony was considering the idea of ​​reuniting the original cast, including Moore, Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy and Mare Winningham. Lowe previously confirmed that he had also met with the studio about the sequel.

The film, directed by Joel Schumacher, grossed nearly $38 million at the box office upon its initial release. St. Elmo’s Fire – about a group of college friends struggling with adulthood and relationships after graduation – became a generational classic and a key film in the Brat Pack franchise.

A select group of Brat Pack actors recently reunited to perform in McCarthy’s Brats Documentary that examined the dynamics of the group and the lasting influence their name had on them throughout the era.
