The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Demi Engemann has a surprising secret to preserve her marriage Bret Engemann sharp.

“Ketamine,” said Demi, 30, Nick Viall during the Wednesday, September 11 episode of the Viall Files podcast. “It was the best tool I’ve used to strengthen my relationship. (It’s) on a whole new level.”

She added: “Everyone I talked to said, ‘We’re having a little bit of trouble (and) things are getting a little boring.’ Take ketamine with your spouse.”

Demi also stressed that she and her husband do not take Special K and that they “get the therapy administered intravenously by a doctor.” (Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic often used to treat depression or relieve pain.)

“It’s microdosing,” she said. “It’s the safest form of anesthesia. It’s used on children and small animals to numb them. It takes you out of consciousness and you can really lower your pride, break down your walls and have a heart-to-heart conversation. I’ve never had a deeper conversation in my entire life.”

According to Demi, she prefers to undergo ketamine therapy when 46-year-old Bret is in the room but sober.

“We kind of talk about our stuff,” Demi said, adding: The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Co-Star Mayci Neeley also tried the therapy.

Mayci, 29, had received all the information from Demi before trying it out herself.

“She tells me about her experience with it (and) she says, ‘I found out I got divorced. I’m a whole new person,'” Mayci said on Wednesday’s episode. “(In the meantime) I was like a cartoon character floating in the clouds, like I was an avatar with a tail.”

Although Demi also had some hallucinations, she emphasized to Mayci that she simply “needed to do more to go deeper.”

“It definitely makes your sex life more exciting,” Demi added, and Mayci agreed.

Demi and Bret have been married since April 2021 despite a 16-year age difference after previously divorcing. The couple, who both have children with previous partners, are also hoping to expand their family.

“We’ve been trying for about four years and nothing so far,” Demi told podcast host Nick Viall. “So that was a big storyline that I don’t think made it onto the show. I mean, Bret literally jerked off into a cup on camera and it didn’t make it. They put a black box over it (and) we actually had sex (on the show), which was even more embarrassing.”

According to Demi, she and Bret wanted to get their sex life back to “normal” after struggling with fertility issues.

“Nothing about it was normal, so I don’t recommend it (and) it didn’t spice things up,” Demi added. “I’m still trying, so we’ll see what happens at this point.”
