Deion Sanders on Colorado’s improved run game early against UCF: “Now we’re two-dimensional”

A focus was getting the running game going Colorado on the way to Saturday’s game against UCF. So far, so good.

The Buffaloes entered the contest at the bottom of the FBS with just 68.8 rushing yards per game. However, with 11 minutes left in the second quarter against the Knights, they have already gained a total of 59 yards on the ground and are leading 21-7.

Colorado coach Deion Sanders spoke on the FOX broadcast after the first quarter about how the improved running game opened things up in the air.

“Now we’re two-dimensional,” Sanders said. “We can both run and throw the ball and that is a threat. Still, we can’t turn the ball over and we can’t do without explosions. We knew: first down, shot down. We said that on the sidelines and they still achieved great success.”

The Buffaloes scored a few big runs Micah Welch to prepare for their first touchdown in the first quarter. Later to open the second one, Dallan Hayden broke free for a 14-yard score.

After throwing an interception on its first drive, Colorado scored on each of its next three drives. Shedeur Sanders is 14 of 17 passes for 131 yards and two touchdowns.

Deion Sanders knows he needs the offensive line to continue playing well for success to continue. He likes what he has seen so far and shared his message before the game.

“Physical, toughness, aggressiveness,” he said. “We told them early on that the first two series would be important. This is the foundation you lay for the continuation of the game.”

Colorado currently leads UCF by a score of 21-7 with about eight minutes left before halftime.
