Dawn Staley makes a demand of Colorado as Travis Hunter takes the basketball world by storm with game-winning play
“If you were voting for the Heisman Trophy, you’d probably have to vote for him.” To earn such praise from analyst Joel Klatt, Travis Hunter must be one hell of an athlete. The football star definitely proved his worth last season, a year after joining the Colorado Buffaloes led by Deion Sanders. In the college team’s recent game against the Baylor Bears, Coach Prime’s team was significantly behind in the first half. However, they were able to rally back and even tie the score at 24-24. Travis Hunter’s second-half pike catch, which he made on a long-range pass from quarterback Shedeur Sanders, helped build the momentum and put the Buffaloes ahead. The impressive move was enough to grab the attention of fans, even those from the world of basketball!
Just minutes after Hunter’s mesmerizing catch, WNBA legend Dawn Staley shared her reaction to X. She tagged the official name of the Colorado Buffaloes and asked them directly: “I need a Travis Hunter jersey ASAP! It’s not hard to find one! (laughing emoji) Thanks in advance!” Barely a minute after the tweet was sent, Paige Bueckers, the rising star of the UConn Huskies, also spoke up and praised the football player’s athleticism with the words: “Travis Hunter isn’t real.” The praise was given, by the way; one can certainly imagine Hunter as one of the top five candidates in the 2025 NFL Draft!

The catch wasn’t the only contribution Travis Hunter made during the game. He made several tackles in the open field that some would even classify as NFL-level, participated in man-to-man defenses, etc.
This is an evolving story.
