Davison High School evacuated as police investigate phone threat

DAVISON, MI – Davison High School was placed into security mode Monday afternoon after the school received a threat via phone call, officials said.

All high school students, including those with alternative education options, are being evacuated out of an abundance of caution, said Michelle Edwards, the district’s director of public information, outreach and culture/school safety liaison.

“Everyone is safe, but out of an abundance of caution, we are clearing classrooms one classroom at a time and moving forward from there,” Edwards said.

Students are being evacuated from the high school to the “Hub” at 8428 Davison Road.

Several police agencies are at the high school investigating the threat, Edwards said.

Agencies visible outside the building include Davison and Davison Township police, Michigan State Police and Genesee County Sheriff’s Department.

The Davison-Richfield Fire Department also responded to the school.

Police vehicles can be seen at the main entrance of the school, blocking part of the parking lot and the stadium.

Parents and visitors are asked not to visit the high school at this time.

Parents are asked to collect their children from the Hub if they normally do so from school.

Students are also taken home by bus from the Hub.

If students came to school by car or on foot, they could leave when classes were out, Edwards said.
