LOS ANGELES – Dave Grohlthe lead singer of the Foo Fighters, announced on Tuesday that he is the father of an illegitimate daughter.

“I recently became a father to a baby girl who was born outside of my marriage,” he revealed on social media on September 10. “I plan to be a loving and supportive father to her.”

Representatives for Grohl did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

The 55-year-old continued: “I love my wife and children and am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We are grateful for your consideration for all the children affected as we move forward together.”

Social media users immediately commented on the announcement, with many expressing their disappointment.

“There goes my hero…” wrote one user.

Another person added: “He should have started with ‘I have something to confess…'”

The Foo Fighters also made headlines last month after it was reported that they had refused Donald Trump’s campaign permission to play one of their songs at a campaign rally.

“The Foo Fighters were not asked for permission, and even if they had been, they would not have granted it,” the band’s representative said in a statement to CNN. It also said that any royalties the band “receives as a result of this use will be donated to the Harris/Walz campaign.”

Grohl is an American musician who founded the rock band Foo Fighters, of which he is the lead singer and guitarist. From 1990 to 1994 he was also the drummer for the grunge band Nirvana.
