There are times when elderly people living alone and far away from their children find innovative ways to complete their daily tasks with less effort. Similarly, an Australian man who lives about four hours away from his children’s home had to come up with a solution to trim the hedges on his lush, green property. His daughter Jadyth – who goes by @doacarj on TikTok – filmed him working smarter, not harder, with the help of his trusty truck and a small crane attached to it.

“I’m visiting my parents and my dad wanted me to watch him trim his hedge,” she says at the beginning of the video. “He needs his truck and his crane to do it.” In the video, Jadyth’s dad attaches a lawnmower to his truck with the crane and lines it up to properly trim the top of the hedge. The rest of the job goes smoothly as her dad drives the truck along the hedge and the lawnmower continues to trim the hedge from above.

In the background, Jadyth can be heard laughing as she continues to film her father using his latest invention, which actually does the job effectively. “You’re probably as curious as I am to see how he gets back,” she says further in the video. Her father continues to drive in circles around a small path and doesn’t even have to reverse the truck. “He just drives away, so I guess he’s happy with his little hedge,” she comments at the end as her father finally drives his truck away from the hedges. But Jadyth was wrong, because her father was not at all happy with the cut.

He jumps back in his car and tries to drive over a single bush, while Jadyth keeps pointing out that he “missed a spot.” The hilarious video has caught the attention of several media networks, with many commenters calling Jadyth out. @jadezy86 noted, “That sir seems like a very difficult method. Creative yes, but we have cordless trimmers so there you go.” @zoeythemidwife joked, “I’m not sure if that’s crazy or genius or both.” Jadyth responded, writing, “I think they discuss this on a lot of radio stations.” @kristysteel commented, “Now that’s 100% an Aussie trying to get to beer time.” @looloo842 added, “Gotta send this to my dad. That’s the kind of thing he would do.”

It seems like every other dad in the world is coming up with these brilliant tricks to make their lives easier. In a similar story, a woman named Lauren Cosier — who goes by @laurencosier on TikTok — shared how her father effortlessly changed his clothes after arriving at the airport in Naples, Italy. In the video posted by Cosier, her father quickly transformed his long pants into cargo shorts to cool off in the hot weather and walked away with his bag. “Dad just got off the plane in Italy. His detachable pant legs are straight out,” she wrote in the video’s text overlay. The father and daughter flew from the UK to Italy for a vacation, Newsweek reported. Fellow travelers may have taken notes from Cosier’s father, who knew how to dress when traveling in different weather.
