Danny Amendola entered the “danger zone” with a “Top Gun”-inspired dance on last night’s episode of “Dancing with the Stars.”

The former New England Patriots wide receiver danced in the show’s second round of competition last night after there were no eliminations in last week’s premiere.

This week, the stars each performed a song from a popular Hollywood film at the show’s Oscars ceremony.

Amendola and his pro partner Witney Carson danced a jive to a hit from “Top Gun” and he honored his late grandfather, who was a veteran.

Danny Amendola and his partner Witney Carson danced a jive to “Danger Zone” by Kenny Loggins from “Top Gun” last night on “Dancing with the Stars” for the Oscars.

The two-time Super Bowl winner said the film reminded him of his late grandfather, who served in the military.

“This film is very dear to my heart,” said Amendola. “When I saw the original at my grandfather’s house, he was in the military. He fought in World War II.”

“If football hadn’t worked out, I would have joined the military,” Amendola added. “I have a lot of respect for these guys.”

After his dance, the former wide receiver said he thought his grandfather would approve of the performance.

“He would definitely have thought we were in the danger zone,” Amendola said.

How did Danny Amendola do on “DWTS” last night?

Danny Amendola achieved 21/30 points for his jive on “Dancing with the Stars” last night and received seven out of ten points from all three judges.

Combined with his results from the first week, Amendola scored 41/60 for both evenings. Overall, he finished fifth among the other stars.

Last night’s episode of “Dancing with the Stars” ended with a double elimination: former imposter Anna Delvey and actress Tori Spelling were sent home.

The elimination was decided by a combination of the jury’s ratings in the first two weeks and the audience vote.

Who is Danny Amendola?

Danny Amendola is a former NFL wide receiver who played 13 seasons, including five with the New England Patriots, where he won two Super Bowls.

He also played for the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions and Houston Texans before announcing his retirement in 2022.

Since retiring from the NFL, the 38-year-old has spent one season as an assistant coach for the Las Vegas Raiders and appeared on the military training show “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test” in 2023.

He is originally from The Woodlands, Texas and graduated from Texas Tech.
