Dancer and cheerleader at Los Osos High School was 17

Emily Gold, candidate of the current season of America’s Got Talentdied. She was 17.

The Los Osos High School student and her dance group reached the quarterfinals of NBC’s reality competition earlier this year.

Gold was found dead under a bridge off Highway 210 in Rancho Cucamonga on Friday, September 13. The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office ruled it a suicide.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up on behalf of the Gold family, stating: “It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our Los Osos Grizzly Emily Gold. Let us come together as a community and support the Gold family during this difficult time. Please know that this money will go directly to the family to support them and help with expenses.”

“I am sorry to share tragic news with you about a fellow Grizzly. Earlier today, Emily Gold, a senior and beloved Grizzly student, passed away,” said a message from Los Osos High School Principal Eric Cypher to parents and students. “Emily was on both our Varsity Dance Team and our Varsity Cheer Squad. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family as they grieve.”

The school said there would be counselors available to help anyone who needed support.

The Los Osos High School dance team made it to the quarterfinals and was eliminated in the episode that aired on August 14.
