Dallas Cowboys lose star pass catcher in Pro Bowl due to serious knee injury against Browns

The Dallas Cowboys were dominating the Cleveland Browns on Sunday afternoon when a star pass catcher had to leave the game. The injury appeared to be painful.

A big day for the Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys came into Sunday’s game looking to prove they could be a playoff contender after owner Jerry Jones agreed to a new contract extension with quarterback Dak Prescott. The Cowboys have delayed extending the contracts of wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and Prescott until after training camp.

Jones’ willingness to delay contract extensions until the Cowboys could use the salary cap room created by the new contracts to sign free agents in the offseason shows his confidence in the team and that it is in a good position to start this season.

The Cowboys led 30-10 in the fourth quarter in Cleveland, outperforming the Browns’ defense, which is one of the better units in the league.

Jake Ferguson suffered an injury

Unfortunately for the Cowboys, star tight end Jake Ferguson landed awkwardly on the ground and left the field in pain.

According to Ari Meirov of the 33rd team, Ferguson’s knee was injured. He went to the dressing room to receive medical attention.

Ferguson had a great season in 2023

Ferguson, a fourth-round pick of the Cowboys in 2022, had a great season in 2023. Last season, he earned a Pro Bowl appearance after catching 71 passes for 761 yards and five touchdowns.

Against the Browns, Ferguson caught three passes for 15 yards.

The Cowboys still have talent at pass-catching if Ferguson is out with an injury. They will have Brandin Cooks and CeeDee Lamb to fall back on.

The Cowboys have healthy tight ends Luke Schoonmaker and rookie Brevyn Spann-Ford on the 53-man roster.
