Dallas Cowboys at NY Giants: Dak Prescott to CeeDee Lamb looked good

None of it was pretty, but the Dallas Cowboys were able to leave MetLife Stadium with another win after defeating their division rival, the New York Giants, 20-15. There’s no doubt they still have a lot of work to do to get better as an overall team, but a win is a win and that’s what they needed after two straight losses.

Today we’re taking a look at one good thing, one bad thing, and one ugly thing from the Dallas Cowboys’ Week 4 win over the New York Giants. There’s probably more bad and ugly that we can take away from this matchup between division rivals, but there actually were some good things that happened that we can bring to the table as well.

THE GOOD – The Dak Prescott/CeeDee Lamb connection

During the first three weeks of the 2024 season, the connection between Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb was somewhat broken. That’s not too much of a surprise considering No. 88 missed almost the entire offseason due to his delay during contract negotiations. Thankfully, however, we saw these two finally sync up in the Week 4 matchup against the New York Giants with seven receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown. Yes, the Giants were a little shorthanded at CB, but it was nice to see the 4/88 connection revived.

THE BAD – Penalties

The Dallas Cowboys continued to be their own worst enemy with these stupid penalties that put them in bad down-and-distance situations on offense and negated big plays like turnovers on defense. Thursday night’s matchup against the New York Giants was no exception. They conceded nine penalties in the first half alone and ended the evening with a total of eleven penalties. This has been a recurring problem for them for several years and there seems to be no solution. Unfortunately, it will most likely cost them a “W” this year.

THE UGLY – The Cowboys dictate how the defense treats the Giants

After weeks of being completely embarrassed by the Saints and Ravens, the Dallas Cowboys defense actually played competent football in Thursday night’s matchup against the Giants. They managed to hold New York to just 26 total rushing yards and keep them out of the end zone, even though the Giants dominated time of possession. Hopefully this is a sign that they are on the right track and will continue to play competently.
