Colorado run back Dallan Hayden does not play on Saturday against Bayloraccording to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

It’s the Buffaloes’ first Big 12 game and they’re without one of their key playmakers. It’s unclear how long Hayden will be out.

“Sources: Colorado tailback Dallan Hayden will not play Saturday against Baylor,” Thamel wrote on Twitter. “He is dealing with an ankle sprain that forced him to miss last week’s game against Colorado State. He is a transfer from Ohio State and a key part of Colorado’s running game.”

Head coach Deion Sanders hasn’t initially ruled Hayden out of the game against Baylor, but he did admit that he wants to see him in practice before making a decision about the game itself.

“We don’t know where he is right now or what he wants to do,” Deion Sanders said. “I want to see it in practice before I see it in the game. So if he can play, he’ll play.”

Hayden joined the team after the 2023 season as a transfer from Ohio StateThere was hope that he could bring new momentum to the Buffaloes’ running game, but it continued to be a problem for the team and Hayden has only rushed for 52 yards on 14 carries this season.

Due to his injury, Hayden had to miss Colorado’s final game against rival Colorado State.

Dallan Hayden eliminated against Baylor

Without Hayden, Colorado may have to rely on the passing game again, with Shedeur Sanders, but he has adapted quite well to Pat Shurmur’s offense.

“Great. Shedeur is a professional, you know that, I’m not telling you anything you don’t know,” Sanders said. “Whenever we give him time, we understand the results. There hasn’t been a game in his career here where he had time to do what he needed to do and he let you down. I happen to have been there his whole career and I know what he’s made of. The kid can play that game. What Coach Shurmur brings to the table is unbelievable. With the communication process, you would have to hear it and understand it all week and sit down and work out game plans and situational football and listen to what he sees.

“Maybe he sees something before the snap that we don’t see because we’re not out there, and that’s phenomenal. The adjustments he makes using the tablets to his best moment on the sideline are a value-add for us, and the way he sees the game, he’s played a lot of football.”
